Surrender To Yourself

Surrender to yourself.

The moment you realize that you have let yourself go and let that tyrant in your mind take over. That mad man has taken possession of your thoughts and quite possibly your words and actions.

He has exhausted you and all your efforts of staying calm. Filled you with fear, worry, anger and anxiety. Made you believe that something “out there,” was bigger than anything you could handle. He vomited lie after lie in your ear and you willing listened to his scandal.

How long did you listen?

Was it minutes, hours, days or weeks? Did he cause you to lose sleep? Did he dress your eyes in bags? Make you lose your appetite or overeat?

Did you act on his words?

Say things you didn’t truly mean. Did he make you mean? Did he damage your relationships? Did he damage your relationship with You? Make you hate yourself or others?

The longer you listened, the more the truth was distorted.

How many moments did you lose listening to that fool? How many precious moments of happiness were lost? How many kind words were not said? How many smiles were you unable to share, while you were frowning? How much love did you withhold?

You were lost in your thoughts while the rest of the world was moving by. You didn’t even notice them passing. Why? That noise about, “What is not right,” and “Who did you wrong” was still effecting you but come on now, for how long?

Then one day, one moment you found yourself in surrender. You exhausted yourself to the point you couldn’t carry it any more, remember? You shed the extra weight that had been holding you down and suddenly you felt life all around. You took notice, not of the turmoil around you, but of the beauty that is life unfolding before you.

Surrender to yourself.

In surrendering to your mind, no matter what the white flag is raise about, you win. You win your life back. Do not let that tyrant in your mind control you. When the tyrant is active, he controls the corners of your mouth. Turns your smile into a frown. He controls the pulleys to your eye lids, makes you look in instead of out. Controls the beating of your heart by filling it with doubt.

Don’t lose one more precious moment to the worries of your mind. Surrender to the now and leave the rest behind.
